I was born to a lower middle class family with only a striving 
merchant mother working  to earn a living. Through the years, 
she never earned enough to attain the kind of financial security that 
many people do. She may not have been successful in making a lot of 
money nor able to build us a beautiful house because of my father's spending habits and lifestyle but to us, she was peerless when it comes 
to making the most of what we had. Looking back, I've realized how frugality played an important role in our life. Identifying "needs" from "wants". Money, being a scarce resource, always presents us with a challenge on how we should use it. Sometimes, we have to be contented 
with hand me down items from affluent relatives that are still good and usable regardless if it is fashionably in or not. Usually, there was no frill celebration for Birthdays and Christmas and for that we lived simply.
Buying does not only mean acquiring, but it entails forfeiting!
 That's why before spending, especially on something you can 
probably live without, always remind yourself that money spent,
is money gone, and often, it is best to decide against it.
Economists love to say that “you can’t eat your cake and keep it too.” Nevertheless, by taking very good care of our possessions and we minimized the cycle of spending and forfeiting. We will always 
remember that in creating wealth, earning well is just half of 
the equation. It is in how much we saved and how well we managed 
our resources  that completes it.
Mama, we can never thank you enough for all the valuable lessons
 you have taught us in life. We will forever be grateful to you because 
where we are in life today we ought it to your moldings.
